Fortunately, he brought both for his time in the north, and with their hell already frozen over, the Leviathan Axe proved to be ineffective. Unlike the Leviathan Axe, the blades function as more of a close-range stabbing cutting weapon than a projectile. While he can throw them short distances and use them as grappling hooks, they ultimately limited by a finite range. They are predominantly used for short to mid-range combat, growing stronger with upgrades, much like the Leviathan Axe. Speaking of the aforementioned magic, thanks to being forged by Ares himself in the depths of the underworld, the blades spew fire when attacking. The blades were affixed to Kratos by extendable chains, burned to his forearms by an unholy fire. In a downright Faustian bargain, he exchanged his soul and services to the God of War Ares for the ability to slaughter his enemies with a sweet pair of short swords known as the Blades of Chaos. As players upgrade the Axe, it dishes out increasing freezing damage and status effects in addition to its blunt force power. The blade on the Axe itself is incredibly sharp and can penetrate armor in addition to the ability to cleave through entire bodies (human or otherwise). Its signature ability is freezing opponents, making them easy targets for the Kratos or his son to finish off.
